2degrees extends 4G coverage on the North Shore

2degrees is extending its 4G coverage on the North Shore even further to include Browns Bay, Campbells Bay, Mairangi Bay, Rothesay and Torbay.

The rollout to extend 2degrees’ 4G coverage on the North Shore forms part of a wider network program which includes the building of more than 150 additional sites over the next 12 months.

2degrees now has 95% national population coverage, with more than 70% coverage on 4G.

2degrees' Chief Technology Officer Mike Davies says, 2degrees' 4G rollout has been extremely successful.  In 2014 2degrees delivered 4G coverage to New Zealand’s largest cities and towns, starting with Auckland, central Wellington, central Christchurch, Hamilton, Tauranga CBD and Mount Maunganui. Last year, 2degrees focused on bringing 4G coverage to the larger cities, towns and regional areas with cell sites being upgraded or built right across the country.

It has gone live in Ashburton, Blenheim, Burnham, Cambridge, Dunedin, Feilding, Greater Christchurch, Gisborne, Hastings, Huntly, Kapiti, Kihikihi, Levin, Masterton, Motueka, Napier, Oamaru, Ohope, Otaki Town, Palmerston North, Paraparaumu, Pukete Hamilton, Prebbleton, Rangiora, Rolleston, Te Awamutu, Whakatane, Whangamata South, Whanganui and Whangarei.

Access to 2degrees' 4G network is at no additional cost and will operate with all existing 2degrees customers’ current data allocations.
