E-Waste Collection Policy

  1. Introduction
    1. This Policy governs the collection of electronic waste (E-Waste) by Two Degrees Mobile Limited (2degrees) and each of 2degrees’ E-Waste processors (each a Processor).
    2. By participating in 2degrees’ E-Waste collection program, you are bound by the terms set out below.
  2. Eligibility
    1. Customer: In order for 2degrees to process your E-Waste, the following conditions must be met by you:
      1. you need to be a current customer of 2degrees at the time of dropping off the devices at a 2degrees retail store; and
      2. you must be the legal and rightful owner of the device being handed in and warrant that no other third party has the right to claim interest, right or ownership of the device. The device must be free from any liens, security interest or claims by third parties.
    2. Devices: 2degrees’ intention is to collect what typically 2degrees’ sells (subject to the exclusions in clause c) and d)).
    3. You may handover the following devices for collection:
      1. modems;
      2. mesh units;
      3. mobile / landline phones;
      4. cables;
      5. chargers;
      6. tablets (including pencil pro accessory);
      7. SD cards; and
      8. hearables and wearables,
        (together, the Eligible E-Waste).
    4. In addition to any hazardous materials, liquids and non-electronic waste, 2degrees is unable to collect the following items:
      1. laptops;
      2. cameras;
      3. printers;
      4. scanners;
      5. batteries;
      6. phones with “swollen” batteries;
      7. power banks; and
      8. SIM cards,
        (together, Ineligible E-Waste).
  3. Bonus Data
    1. Where advertised, for every donation of Eligible Waste collected by 2degrees (whether a single device or multiple), you will receive a one off, 2 GB of bonus Carryover Data if you are a current Prepay customer at the time of the Eligible Waste being accepted by 2degrees (Bonus Data). The Bonus Data is redeemed via redemption code. Eligibility for Bonus Data is limited to one donation every three months.
    2. Bonus Data is applied within 72 hours of redemption. Bonus Data lost if you do not maintain plan to which the Bonus Data was added. Bonus Data is not transferable or redeemable for cash.
    3. If you are not a Prepay customer, you acknowledge that there is no alternative promotion available to you.
  4. Your obligations
    1. You are responsible for removing the memory card, SIM card or any accessories in or on your device and erasing all the personal and confidential information and data, including, but not limited to applications, contacts and personal data, confidential and/or personal information, photos, notes, videos, messages and/or passwords from the device (Personal Information). It is also your responsibility to ensure that Personal Information in the device is appropriately backed up before handing over your device to 2degrees.
    2. If any Personal Information has not been deleted or removed from your device, you authorise 2degrees and Processors to remove and destroy any SIM card or memory card left in the sold device and perform a factory reset and data wipe on the said device.
    3. Under no circumstances will 2degrees or Processors be responsible or liable for any direct or indirect loss or damage or loss of use of any Personal Information remaining in the device which you failed to remove, or which arises as a result of 2degrees or Processor destroying or removing the Personal Information.
  5. Collection of E-Waste
    Eligible E-Easte can be dropped off and therefore collected by 2degrees from the Newmarket, Sylvia Park, St Lukes, Customhouse Quay, New Plymouth and Mid Queen 2degrees stores only. All 2degrees retail stores will accept mobile phones.
    1. Once collected, E-Waste becomes the property of 2degrees and Processor (depending on point in processing cycle).
    2. You acknowledge that on 2degrees’ acceptance of Eligible E-Waste, you are agreeing to a No Change of Mind Policy.
  6. E-Waste Processing
    1. The Processor will handle all E-Waste in accordance with local environmental regulations and industry best practices.
    2. E-Waste may be refurbished, recycled, or safely disposed of, depending on its condition and / or the Processor.
    3. 2degrees makes no guarantee that any individual item will be recycled or repurposed.
  7. General
    1. In order to provide the program, 2degrees has entered into arrangements with Processors. To the maximum extent permitted at law, Processors will not be liable to you in connection with this policy. This clause is for the benefit of our Processors and is intended to be enforceable by them under the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017.
    2. 2degrees may change this Policy from time to time.
    3. 2degrees and Processors carry no liability to you under this Policy,
    4. This Policy is governed by the laws of New Zealand. Disputes arising out of these terms or this arrangement will be settled by the courts of Auckland, New Zealand.
