Help finding mobile calling and text rates

Each plan has different rates for different destinations, and specific terms and conditions will apply. Please use this page as a quick guide to help you find the international, national and roaming rates applicable when you make calls or send texts on your plan.

If you have a landline with us, you can see the costs for calling from your home landline here and your business landline here.

Directory Assistance calls:

If you’re trying to find a business number or address and don’t have data on your phone, you may wish to call Directory services to ask for help. You'll need to give the Directory operator the city that you believe the business is in and the name (even if you’re unsure of the spelling) of the business or person you’re wanting to connect with.

  • New Zealand Directory Service (018) $1.00 per call
  • International Directory Service (0172) $1.95 per call

What it costs to send an MMS

An MMS (Multimedia Messaging System, aka PXT) is generally a picture/video message sent on the mobile network (not through data services) up to 300KB but can also include messages which contain emojis, exceed 160 characters or are sent to multiple recipients because some phones are configured by manufacturers to send such messages as MMS and not SMS)

If you use the in-built emoji feature on your device, messages with an emoji that are 160 characters or under are sent as a text (aka TXT). Messages that are over 160 characters are sent as a MMS.

When you’re in Aotearoa, sending an MMS to someone will cost you 50 cents per MMS, no matter if they live in Tauranga, Toowoomba or Texas.

It's free to receive text or photo messages on your mobile in New Zealand. Please note that if you receive an MMS while Roaming overseas, you’ll need to have data roaming enabled to download the message and the associated data charges will be applied to your account.
