Set up charges 
A standard UFB installation is free. The installation process will involve a technician coming to your place to physically connect a fibre optic cable from the roadside to your premise. 
We offer Home Phone Services: 

  • Home Phone Plus service - $15/month. This is delivered over your broadband connection and includes voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, and unlimited* calls to NZ & Australian landlines). This service is not available to some ADSL users and Hyperfibre users. 

Leased modem charges 
If you have leased a modem you must return that modem to us when you terminate your plan and leave us. If you terminate and leave before the end of the term and do not return the modem to us you will be charged.

Depending on the availability at your address we will offer you Fibre (or ADSL or VDSL, if applicable for $4 extra).

Other Information 

Minimum Contract Period 

You can choose from either: 

  • Open term or 

  • 12 month term or 

  • a term we have specifically offered you. 

Early Termination Charge 
If you are on a fixed term Plan you will need to pay an early termination charge up to $199 if you end your contract early. 
There is no early termination charge if you sign-up on an open term. 
If you sign up to a 12 month Broadband Plan (or longer) with a promotional credit or discount the following early termination charges may apply: 

  • An early exit fee up to $199 applies to the term; and 

  • Also, if you leave or downgrade your plan within the first 12 months (or longer period in any specified terms), you'll need to repay the promotional credit or discount, or pay any applicable plan transfer charges. 

Notice period (termination) 
You can end your plan at any time before your next monthly billing due date. You will still be responsible for any charges incurred prior to that billing date.

Traffic Management 
Wired broadband 
No traffic management policies apply on any of our broadband plans, including Unlimited Data. 
2degrees reserves the right to manage traffic at peak times to improve the overall performance and experience of our Services among our customers. In particular, we reserve the right to prioritise specific types of traffic over other traffic at times of congestion (and for limited time periods) where we consider there will be significant customer interest in the specific type of traffic and these actions are necessary to ensure customers receive an acceptable Service.

Fair Use
Wireless Broadband (including Unlimited Plans), Rural Broadband Services and Home Phone Services are subject to the Fair Use Policy. Your use of the Services must be fair, reasonable and not excessive, as reasonably determined by us by reference to average and/or estimated typical customer usage of the Services. We will consider your usage to be excessive and unreasonable where it: 

  1. materially exceeds the average and/or estimated use patterns over any day, week or month (or other period of time as determined by us); or 

  1. causes us to incur additional costs or affects the performance of the 2degrees Network or affects another 2degrees’ customers’ use of or access to the Services, 

Excessive Usage
Where we offer any Services such use is offered for your individual private and personal use and benefit only. In no case does any Service allow for activities aimed at making profit or reselling the Service or using the Service in an unfair or excessive way and any such use of the Services by you is a breach of this Agreement. 
For the avoidance of doubt, fair use of our Services excludes activities such as auto-dialling, premium services, continuously call forwarding, tele-marketing, call centres or other activities that use our services for commercial gain and use of cellular trunking units (including SIM boxes and GSM gateways). 
If in our reasonable opinion we consider your usage to be Excessive Usage we may immediately suspend, modify or restrict your use of the Services or withdraw in full or in part your access to the Services without notice to you and/or act in accordance with the Wire Broadband Traffic Management process set out above.

Effects on other services 
Your broadband service requires mains power to operate. If power is not available (e.g. during a local power outage) the broadband, and any services which run over it (such as the Home Phone Plus service, alarms including medical alarms), may stop working unless you have battery backup in your home.
