Spend Control helps manage your Pay Monthly plan inclusions & Add-ons
Spend Control is a handy tool that keeps an eye on your total spend across minutes, texts and data over and above what's included in your Pay Monthly plan (including any extra Add-ons you may purchase during the month).
How does Spend Control work?
As an example, let’s say you are on a $40 Pay Monthly plan and set a Spend Control limit of $30. This means if you use any services that are not a part of your plan such as Add-ons, international calling and texting or overseas roaming, Spend Control will only allow you to spend up to $30 on these services.
If you have an interest-free phone, the monthly repayment cost is not included in your Spend Control calculation. Spend Control only kicks in to manage the cost of any extra minutes, texts and data you use after you’ve exhausted the limits in your Pay Monthly plan. We know it's a little trickier managing your spend when you're abroad, so setting a Spend Control limit is a great way to help keep your bill in check when you're traveling.
How to set up Spend Control
You can set up Spend Control by logging in to Your 2degrees or through the 2degrees mobile app.
Setting up Spend Control in the 2degrees App
It's a breeze to get your Spend Control sorted on the app. Log in and then from the Menu, navigate to Payments and bills, then tap on Spend Control.
If you have more than one connection, for example if you've opted for a Group plan, and you'd like to manage the spend for each of your connections, you'll need to ensure they each have Spend Control already set up. You can then manage their spend. From the Menu, navigate to Select Connection, then Payments and bills, then Spend Control.
Whether you’re making a change for your own plan or for a connection in your Group plan, you’ll see a confirmation message to show we’ve received your request. Once the Spend Limit has been changed for your personal plan, we’ll send you a text confirming the change. For a group plan, we’ll send a text to each member once their Spend Limit is changed. This text usually only takes a few minutes, so don't go crazy on your usage until you receive a text saying it's up and running.
Setting up Spend Control through Your 2degrees
Log in to Your 2degrees and click on the 'Spend Control' link on your dashboard. You can find this under 'Your Plan Details'.
If you have more than one connection, for example if you've set up a Group plan, and would like to manage the spend for each of your connections, you'll need to ensure each of your connections under your Group plan has Spend Control set up. We'll then send a text to each connection when they're within $10 of their limit.
How do I change my Spend Control Limit?
It's easy to check and change your Spend Control Limit.
Change your Spend Control Limit from the 2degrees App
Select Settings from the 2degrees app menu, then select Spend Control. Switch it off or on, and then input the amount you want to set as your limit.
If you have multiple connections, we've got that covered too. Just select the one you wish to manage.
You'll see a confirmation message to show we've received your request, and we'll send you a text when your Spend Limit has been changed. It usually only takes a few minutes, so don't go crazy on your usage until you receive a text saying it's up and running.
Change your Spend Control Limit from Your 2degrees
From your dashboard, select the Usage tab and follow the link to Spend Control. Select the connection you wish to manage, or change or turn off your Spend Control.
Change your Spend Control Limit from your phone
Another no-fuss way to manage your own Spend Control is by dialling *100*5*1# from your mobile. You will then receive an automatic prompt to enter the amount you wish to set your limit to. You'll then receive a text from us confirming that you've successfully changed your Spend Control Limit.
